Old house in Texas

Kim calls Texas home because she graduated high school in Rankin which had a population of 1000. We bought a house in a town named Clyde when I was stationed at Dyess AFB. It is a small town just east of Abilene where we were planning on calling home after I retire from the AF in July. However; plans change and I was offered a job in the same office I worked in before I retired and the money was good enough that I could not turn it down. For the past 20 years we have moved from state to state and country to country. During my military service we never lived anywhere longer than 3 to 4 years with the exception of Montgomery Alabama where we lived for 6. The kids are all grown now and out on their own and it will be nice to settle down and make some long term friends. We decided to sell the house so started getting the house ready. We pressure washed the outside and stripped the old paint off. We were in the process of painting the outside and the inside when the neighbor came over and asked if we would sell it as is. We could have finished repairs and gotten more for the house but we ended up selling it as is for the same price we bought it for.

The neibor asked if he could let his Longhorn into our fenced 2 acres to graze

Big spiders in Texas

The little jumping spiders or house spiders help keep the bugs down. I saw one jump from a door and grab a wasp out of the air. He then hung by his drag line swinging in the air and held on till his poison had done its work then cut his line and dropped to the ground and drug it off. It was cool to watch.

A flock of about 40 turkeys goes through the yard every couple of months.

Its actually kind of small for 6 acres but my new mower will do untill I can get a tractor with a mower attachment

Living in the country people think they can just drop animals off and leave them. Dobey showed up at our door about a week after we moved back. She is a really sweet dog who will not take food off the coffee table till you hand it to her. Sugar the old dog and Bud the cat have her in control and she will move out of the way for them when they walk towards her. She likes to run at Bud to see if he will run but he usually ends up chasing her around the yard.

We got some ice this year and sometimes it will actually snow but that is rare.
